Hi all,

I’m the author of [ChatEgg](https://chategg.chat), a mobile app that pulls a creator’s live chat from multiple platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok) into a single real-time feed. The primary use case is a creator watching their own stream’s chat while they broadcast. I’d love to add support for Patreon Live.

I’ve already been working on integrating the official v2 API, including the early-access Live endpoints (`campaigns.lives` / `w:campaigns.lives`). GET `/api/oauth2/v2/lives/{id}` is great for detecting and managing a live as it returns state, rtmp\_url, stream\_key, scheduled\_for, title, description. But everything there is broadcast/ingest control; there’s nothing for consuming the Live’s chat.

From what I can tell, Live chat is powered by a third-party chat service (appears to be [getstream.io](http://getstream.io)), and I can’t find any OAuth-authenticated way to obtain the chat connection details (a channel identifier + a chat token). The only path I’ve found to a chat token requires a first-party Patreon web session, which isn’t ideal for a third-party OAuth app.

My question: is there a supported / planned OAuth path to read a Live’s chat? For example, exposing the chat channel + a scoped chat token on the Live resource, or an OAuth-authenticated token endpoint. Read-only is entirely sufficient for my use case; I just want to display incoming messages, not post messages.

The docs note the Live APIs are early-access and invite feedback, so I’m happy to be an early-access partner and share real-world integration feedback. Thanks!

@noertap @prenner you are [listed](https://www.patreondevelopers.com/about) as an admin and moderator these forums. I’m just wondering if these forums are dead? Does anyone on the Patreon Engineering team ever check them? I posted my question here a month ago but it’s been crickets…

Hi @soapergem, there are no plans to expose live chat info through the API right now.
