Log-in loop in Patreon Plug-in

Patreon WordPress 1.9.7 with API v2

My Patreon backers have been getting the log-in loop since March. I’ve been in contact with Patreon Support, but they keep promising to “escalate the issue,” and then ignoring me. It has been two months, and my Patreon backers are getting tired of not being able to access their rewards.

I have four sites this has affected:

  • evil-inc dot com
  • eiad.evil-inc dot com
  • commissions.evil-inc dot com
  • courting.evil-inc dot com

I have tried the following:

  • Deactivating plug-ins <— video of me doing so
  • Deactivating Docket Cache
  • Deactivating WP Super Cache
  • Pausing Cloudflare

I can’t get the Patreon plug-in to connect.

I can’t get the plug-in to disconnect…

I’ve tried following the instructions under the “Sorry, couldn’t disconnect…” message, and that hasn’t worked.

I’ve tried deleting the Patreon plug-in itself and reinstalling it… to no avail.

And when I click the link that says “You can find the app settings at Patreon here” under Patreon Connection, I get the following…

In other words, I’m in a real bucket of syrup.

Hi, can you check if the issue is still persisting? You might need to disconnect and re-connect the WP plugin.

When I try to disconnect, I get the following message:

Sorry, couldn’t disconnect your sitePlease wait a few minutes and try again. If this issue persists, you can visit your your app/clients page and delete the app/client for this site. Then you can save empty values for details in “Connection details” tab in “Patreon settings” menu at your site. This would manually disconnect your site from Patreon. Then, you can reconnect your site to another Patreon account or to the same account.

Did you try to follow those steps? If not, could you try them? Specifically:

  1. deleting the Wordpress client from Platform | Applications | Patreon
  2. Updating “connection details” in the WP plugin to empty values
  3. Reloading the WP page and trying to connect again

I did.

I also paused Cloudflare, and purged my cache. I turned off the WordFence Firewall.

When I tried to reconnect, I was sent to Connection Wizard, and received this message:

Let’s connect your site to Patreon!

We weren’t able to get to get the token for connecting your site to Patreon for the time being. Please wait a while and try again and contact support if this situation persists.

Here’s another clue: When I click on " You can find the app settings at Patreon here"

I get this:

This site can’t be reached

Check if there is a typo in ‘.patreon_host.’.

The plugin is not constructing the link correctly (it’ll be fixed). Instead of clicking on it, did you try to just go straight to Platform | Applications | Patreon to remove the client?
