Patreon WordPress post sync guide

First make sure you set ‘Update posts’ in settings to Yes. Otherwise no existing posts will be imported.

Then, start a manual import. You can manually click to import the subsequent batches, or you can just wait for it to import all itself. Then check out whether the images came in properly.

I learned that the bad way (I had changed the setting before doing the import but I did not hit save settings because I did not see any warnings that I had to save them, I thought that was already taken into account when hitting on import), that’s why my question is about how to remove the older import and redo it with the images this time.

Also, where in the database do I find the ammount pledged needed so that I can bulk change it? I have not found been able to find it. I can’t edit hundreds of posts one by one.

You dont need to undo the older import. Just set the ‘Update posts’ setting to on, and then re-import. Existing imported posts will be updated with the latest versions from Patreon and images will also be added/processed to their relevant posts. Basically you dont need to manually do anything yourself.

I did that and it did not work (already said in my original message).

If you still cannot sync in posts and/or images, we may suspect that there is ongoing or occasional blocking of Patreon’s ip or connections to Patreon at your server. Can you contact your host and ask if there is any such possibility?

Do you know which IPs should I check? My site runs on a Siteground Server with Cloudflare enabled.

There are no IP blocked on Cloudflare and Siteground says it does not block IPs.

In this case plugin conflict may be suspect. Trying disabling all plugins but PW, then doing a manual import to see if any image will import may help.

I’ve just tried with all plugins off except for Patreon and Patreon button: it has not really changed. What I’ve noticed is that each import is saved as a revision and in some of those revisions there are images, but they are not the revision that is used. Others don’t have any images imported in the revision.

WP 5.5.1 with PHP 7.3.16
Patreon WordPress 1.6.6 with API v2
Patreon Button, Widgets and Plugin 2.0.9

Imports being saved as revision definitely isnt something anywhere in the plugin’s code. What are their post status? Published or Pending?

All published. I’ve deactivated the sync after running it twice today. There are 4 revisions for the posts I did not edit (I have not checked them all)

The latest state of the post reflects in the latest revision or actual post content right? Ie, when you edit a post at Patreon and then get it auto update or do a manual import, that edit reflects in the counterpart post at your site?

Sorry Oz, my mistake.

The version that had a picture was an edit I had made. I used the picture downloaded straight from the Patreon post but it got taken out in one of the syncs.

There was an error in my previous post (corrected no): I Deactivated the plugin yesterday.

Maybe some of the versions are from when I changed the date to 1900 and then the plugin changed the date again. It looked like there was also some formatting. Maybe WP changed the content to blocks?

I have not edited any of the posts on Patreon because I can’t. There’s a bug that stops me from publishing and that means I cannot do any changes to the posts either (like the tier).

Thanks for your help but I will not do anything else with the import plugin. I hope that one day I will be able to manually edit all the posts so they look a bit like they did in Patreon.

I’m also looking for a WordPress alternative to Patreon. There’s just too much trouble.

There is an upcoming Patreon-optimized hosting service from Codebard.com that is designed to address such problems. If you wish, i can give you a test account so you can check around and see if you can set it up as you wish.

Thanks a lot but no. My main posting issue is with Patreon and their customer service is not really following up on that.

A bug while posting posts at Patreon is something that we cannot solve at api or 3rd party hosting/infrastructure side indeed. Did you try bringing up the issue in community forum and discord?

To customer service and in Discord (where I was just told to contact customer service). There are just too many problems with Patreon. Thanks for the links anyway.

Got it. Sorry that it didnt work out. Good luck with whatever platform you adopt.

Paid Memberships Pro may be an option - its compatible with Patreon WordPress and if you would think about incorporating Patreon in future, you can just install the plugin and it would work with your existing memberships.

Hi I’m trying to sync my Patreon posts with the wordpress plugin however it imported in all my posts but is not automatically syncing them to my website when I make a new post on Patreon, is there any troubleshooting I can do?

Thanks

What post type are they? Audio posts? Image posts?
