when i import my articles from patreon, it always shows the first image on the article as a cover in wordpress. can i import the cover photos on patreon directly as a cover in wordpress?

I think you mean the featured image. Currently this is not possible to do for image post type at Patreon. The api must be updated to support image in image post types.
